When I arrived late at night, I could already hear the active thermal features on my walk up.
This hot spring was shooting off into the night with lots of splashing and steam. I caught this image on my way back to the car, after things cooled off a bit.
I could have spent all night in this area. The airglow was really nice with colorful bands, and the sky was all stars.
Having this place all to myself (I shoot alone) was amazing, but I was extra cautious near the thermal areas. A man died in this pool near instantly when he jumped in after his dog. While that certainly isn't all too rare for Yellowstone, still brings home how serious things can turn while you're in the presence of beauty.
